Baurus leaves the party. He has decided to head to his homeland and examine the missing dwarven city of Minora.
Before leaving Brightkeep, Aranil approaches you. “Adventurers! A gift from the people of the Fey for ridding us the evil from the Garden of Graves.” He motions towards two eladrin guards. They bring forth four saddled horses.
- The first horse is brown with a white mane. A green saddle adorns its back.
- The second horse is brown with a black mane. A black saddle adorns its back.
- The third is a white horse with a white mane. A blue saddle adorns its back.
- The fourth horse is white with a black mane. A red saddle adorns its back.
Aranil states, “These are creatures of the Feywild. Use them in your travels and when the time comes that you no longer need them, they will return home. The crossing into Greyhawk is half a mile south of here. Good luck.”
You appear in the world but not in Greyhawk. Rolling hills stretch from a mountain range to the ocean before you. Between them lies the unmistakable kingdom of Algoria. The marble and stone castle towers above the city walls.
The citizens of Algoria do not recognize Argarwane (the rightful heir to their throne). They do look strangely upon this odd cast of characters, though. Heroes are a rare occurrence these days.
The Setting Sun
This tavern is upscale. The floors are made of stone and marble. Darion Grimshaw runs the place and acts as bartender. He knows everything and everyone in town but he doesn’t give information freely. He’s a loyal human. He’ll talk all day and night about the fallen Nerathi Empire.
Freeblood 7’s – This card and dice game is the most popular in the kingdom of Algoria. The PCs can bet in groups of 1000 gp. A roll of 10 or higher allows for an Bluff check against opponent’s Insight. A successful bluff counts as 1 point. First to 5 points wins. A roll of 7 on the d20 is an automatic win. Jandrel Bloomspeak is the most feared Freeblood 7’s player in the realm. His Insight check is + 18 and his Bluff check is +19.
At the Setting Sun, the PCs probed Darion only to get stories of the old days. They went on to play Freeblood 7’s where Thalion managed to lose upwards of 8000 gp in an attempt to beat Jandrel. Eventually, Thalion won and Jandrel gave them hints that they may want to request an audience at the castle.
On the way there, a warforged cleric approaches the party. His name is Three. He was sent by Chigaru as aid to the party.
The high Lord Anobil first recognizes Argarwane. He asks him to join them in the council room.
“Greyhawk has been taken but by what it is not known. It has been long enough since the fall of the Nerathi Empire that everyone now fights for power. The Prince of Undeath works in the shadows for his return. The tieflings of Bael Turath are trying to rebuild their empire. It’s time that man do the same. Rumors and whispers have reached their ears that a man builds a machine of unspeakable power. The council wishes to rebuild the Nerathi Empire and use Algoria as the foundation.”
“What say you, King Argarwane?”
Argarwane begins to remember this place. He is announced by the council as the rightful heir.
The warforged realizes what must be done. Chigaru had reason to believe that Starfire acquired the Infernal Horns of Bael Turath. Investigating that region could lead to more clues as well as get insight on the progress of the tiefling empire.
Lord Anobil states, “Your grace, would you have your coronation before you set out? Or shall it wait for your return to Algoria?”
The PCs stay the night, stock up, and the coronation takes place in the morning. King Argarwane demands that the construction of an army begin. And so it does.
“Head south to the Dawnforge mountains. The people of Hammerfast should be knowledgeable enough to help you from there. But they are a stubborn breed of dwarves so it may take some convincing to acquire their help.”
The PCs then begin the Journey to Bael Turath. They arrive in Hammerast and talk to an ex-adventurer named Quinn. He asks for payment if he is to divulge information on the old tiefling empire. Three promises it. He explains how to get their and Three says, “The blessings of my god will be enough for payment.” And the PCs set off. Quinn looked angry.
They cross the Dawnforge mountains and arrive in the desert. They meet a group of tielfings. Diplomacy fails miserably.
Encounter 3 5600 XP
1 Tiefling Occultist lvl 17
5 Tiefling Shadowblades lvl 13
The PCs emerge victorious. Thalion slays the occultist leader after the fight.
Thalion is becoming darker.
Vengeance, a tiefling in a dragonborn body, is flooded with emotions entering a tiefling empire.
Argarwane, now a king, is becoming more courageous.
Three, remains peaceful, and always in prayer with his god, Haramathur.
The party now sets up camp and takes an extended rest.
